If there’s one thing you can avoid during labor…
What is an episiotomy?
An episiotomy is a planned cut by a doctor to your perineum in order to enlarge the opening for your baby to emerge.
Why Would Anyone Want an Episiotomy?
Do you want to learn what the #1 way to increase your milk supply is?
I have nursed 5 babies, and one challenge I have had consistently each time is keeping up my milk supply- especially once I went back to work.
We’ve all been there.
Why would you buy noise cancelling headphones for your baby?
No, this is not a joke!
Look: the first time I heard about newborns’ sensitive hearing was from my speech therapist friend who was sitting out a friend’s wedding in the lobby holding her infant.
Of course I asked her why she was sitting out there with her baby and not hanging out with everyone inside, when she told me something I never forgot.
I am a big believer in bottlefeeding.
You’re probably thinking: You’re a nurse and you don’t believe women should breastfeed?
Let me start out by saying I nursed all of my babies, and when I was a maternity nurse I encouraged new Moms to nurse their infants.
Having said that I truly believe that not everyone should be nursing.
Sometimes it can be a really difficult experience, from cases I’ve seen first hand.
When I was growing up and my mother would notice some apples sitting in the fridge too long, she would throw them in the oven and bake them.
We loved them!
They were crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside.
Presenting my favorite Butternut Squash soup recipe 🙂
It is a delicious hearty soup, and paired with a crusty roll it is a meal unto itself!
I’ve tried different recipes and this is my favorite one. It’s got a hint of sweetness and is packed with flavor.
I just made it for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit with the adults AND the babies!
When you’re really sick with a bad head cold and a sore throat, and you’re bedded down under your thick quilt, what do you really crave?
Chicken soup of course! It is a tradition handed down by our mothers and grandmothers and for good reason:
Chicken soup has healing properties and now it’s scientifically proven!
Chicken soup has anti inflammatory properties which will reduce the mucous production in your nose, helping clear up your nasal congestion.
It’ll also soothe your throat and provide important hydration which your body needs to help flush out the infection.
This is the chicken soup recipe I use and it is actually the only soup my kids will eat!
